Appreciate the Love!!!

Generally speaking, I’m not a huge fan of cotton undies. Call me crazy, but they usually just make me think of either a) period panties, b) teenybopper girls dancing in their beds (picture a younger version of Cameron Diaz doing her rhythm-less booty shake in Charlie’s Angels which, by the way, won her an MTV Movie Award), or c) old granny briefs. I guess they just don’t make me feel as sexy as some nice lace or silk pieces. Or maybe it’s just that designers tend to be so simplistic when it comes to their designs — sure, Hanes and Fruit of the Loom offer a truckload of designs but they’re all pretty fugly. Even Victoria’s Secret offers a really limited selection. I, for one, refuse to wear briefs that have the words “Teacher’s Pet” emblazoned on the back or that have little heart designs. Shoo, if I’m gonna do that, I might as well break out a feathered pen and start doodling “Mrs. Such-and-Such” in my glitter-covered diary (with a locket, of course) — that’s how junior high that feels!

Fortunately, there is a new kid in town that’s reinventing cotton underwear and making it as fierce, tough, and sexy as we need it to be. Check out these pieces from Little Hill’s “Tough Cookie” collection, which celebrates saucy girls that are as sweet as can be or as nasty as they need to be, who want a bit of a streetwear edge in their gear (and yes, that includes the undergarments they lounge in) and who have a bit of a wild, adventurous side. As designer Stephanie Ortiz puts it, “We’re not your average chicks. So it’s only right that I’m not wearing your average gear underneath.” I’m with you all the way, girl.

The collection draws inspiration from tattoo art, graffiti and hip-hop culture, with three very unique designs: “Blown Away” (a clever print that fuses together a woman’s lipstick stain with images of a revolver… For some reason it makes me think of that ’80s song “Kiss Me Deadly”); “Tough Love” (which spells XOXO in a barbed wire motif); and “Seeing Stars” (which celebrates good ol’ brass knuckles).

You can buy each piece separately and mix and match according to your preference — whether you like pairing a V-neck bra camisole with boyshorts or a straight-forward with an itty-bitty thong, the choice is yours.

And trust me: these cotton undies are so comfortable and so full of attitude that you’ll feel just as sexy, empowered, and desirable as if you were rocking a corset and a garter belt underneath your clothes. Hey, you may even feel a tad bit naughtier.
